NORWAY’S WORLD-FAMOUS BRISLING SARDINES ARE CONQUERING MARKETS AROUND THE WORLD, AS REPORTED BY NORSK FISKERINÆRING.

TINY BRISLING MAKING A BIG SPLASH

June 2012 – As recently reported in Norsk Fiskerinæring, the Norwegian fishing industry magazine, King Oscar is celebrating these days.

In the 110 years since the King Oscar brand was established and Norway began exporting its prized fish, people from countries around the world have proclaimed the tiny Norwegian brisling the mightiest sardine of them all.

In the EU, King Oscar is now working actively with allied trade partners to supply brisling sardines to established brands who recognize the unique quality of Norway’s famous catch. Sardines by any name are not all the same. We will win the world over, one tiny brisling at a time!

Out of the fjords and around the world
This story is the perfect way to celebrate King Oscar’s 110-year jubilee. For with every new chapter in the story, KO is reminded of its long-standing heritage. Fishing the fjords for brisling has been a Norwegian way of life for generations. The fish are sustainably caught in nets, smoked in real oak-wood ovens, and neatly packed by hand in the tins, and then wrapped in red foil with an image of the benevolent King Oscar – symbol of quality and goodness since 1902.

An eye to the future
Under new and visionary corporate ownership since 2010, King Oscar is now focused on the next 100 years. Norway’s oldest brand intends to get younger and healthier, as it commits itself to providing the best canned fish in the world to the next generation of seafood fans.
