October 2009King Oscar’s delicious and nutritious Norwegian sardines are to be featured in an episode of the internationally televised food series, “Nordic Cuisine.”

One of the show’s teams visited King Oscar headquarters in Bergen this month to work on the production.

“The series is hunting for local raw materials and special food producers,” said King Oscar Purchasing Manager Erling Kvale, who joined the TV shoot in the Bergen harbor together with Quality Manager Torgeir Heggelund and long-time former Factory Manager at Davanger, and mentor at Gniewino, Ottar Heggø. Gniewino, Poland, is now home to the company’s largest production facility.

“Brisling sardines will be highlighted by the series as something special for Norway and the fjords of western Norway.”

The program will air in Norway and the other Scandinavian countries in 2010. An English language version is also being made for release to 60 countries stretching from the USA to China – with approximately 100 million viewers.

The man behind the series, Danish Chef Claus Meyer, told the Norwegian newspaper Aftenposten that the series is a chance to highlight the qualities of modern Nordic cuisine to the rest of the world.
